Talking therapies can help your child deal with life’s challenges

Talking therapies for young people can be life changing, helping them deal with any difficulties they are experiencing and teaching them important coping skills they can use throughout their lives. There is a strong evidence base that therapy for children and teenagers can and does work effectively for a wide variety of conditions including:

There are many different types of therapy available to children and adolescents and you might not know which is best for your child. You can speak to one of our clinical advisors (who are all assistant Psychologists and Psychotherapists), who will be able to advise you on the best therapy for your child’s needs.

Why choose Clinical Partners?

Because you can trust us to arrange for your child to see a friendly and expert clinician who can help.

We have a nationwide team of child and adolescent Psychotherapists and Counsellors who are picked because of their expertise, experience and compassion. We choose our therapists because they have a lot of training and experience, but also because we like them, and we hope that you will too.

If your child is having difficulties and you think that therapy might be helpful, then please call one of our advisors on 020 3761 7026 who will help you decide if it is the right choice

Can Psychotherapy and Counselling help my child?

Research has shown that talking therapies are hugely effective for children and adolescents, both in the short and long term1 and many studies have shown talking therapies are as effective as certain medications and more likely to help long term.

Therapy can work in different ways.

For some children, it can help to have someone independent to talk through difficulties with; children are often very sensitive to their parent’s emotions and will ‘put on a brave’ face rather than risk upsetting them. Cognitive therapies can help rebalance unhelpful or negative thought processes and can be successfully used with children as young as three3. Play and art therapy can be used very effectively with children to help them understand distressing events or complicated emotions. Regardless of the therapy chosen, the aim is to allow your child a safe space to work through difficult feelings and create a happier outlook on life.

Parenting Support and Family Therapy

Clinical Partners also have therapists who can offer parenting support and family therapy. These can be incredibly helpful for any family, but even more so if you have a child who is currently showing difficult behaviours.
